Last year, we in Local 100 got a taste of the bad intentions of Local 399 to steal the work from midwest locals.

For the past seven years, the 399 leaders have bemoaned the midwest and southern states tax incentive programs.

Their complaint is that the midwest is taking work away from California. And, it is probably true.

But last year, using some condition added into their 399 contract, that we do not get to vote on, they claim whenever a California plated truck runs on a movie, 399 drivers work. Regardless of where.

Their contract, claims a number (5-6) of drivers on all productions in the western 13 states. For years stealing work away from drivers in other western states locals.

But last year, they ventured into Ohio, claiming they could work as many California drivers ahead of Local drivers as they wanted.

And they did. Nine (9) local 399 people worked ahead of qualified Local 100 people.

The 399 people got the overtime, the extra days and the emergency call-in (double-time).

On top of that, they worked under the California contract, paid as much as $10/hour more.

Local 100 members got the scraps that fell off the table.

Bill Davis did NOTHING to protect our jobs or the exclusive movie jurisdiction of Local 100, which we've had since 1988.

Labor charges are pending regarding the violations of our contract and our local's jurisdiction.

There are all sorts of rumors about the new year and the contract being negotiated in California in July. We will be denied any opportunity to vote on the terms and conditions that will affect our jobs and our families.

One rumor is that in the new contract, 399 will require that every production nationwide offer 1/2 of transportation jobs to 399 members.

What that means, for Cincinnati productions using 20 drivers, only 10 will be local 100.

Most Locals with jurisdiction and every Joint Council lobby's they're Govenor and Legislature for incentives to attract productions. Now we're supposed to spend that political capital so out of state Teamsters can get the work. Gonna be interesting explaining how all this works to members who no longer get work.

Just curious, where do you stand on what happened in NM?

I don't know yet. I know that the NM local was screwing with drivers, discrimination was rampant. They needed changes.

399 stepped in and took over. But, it's too soon to know how this will play out. Will 399 protect the NM drivers and respect their right to be first hired on local jobs, or will 399 send in Hollywood drivers?

In Cincinnati, our local has also screwed up the movie referral system. Nepotism, favoritism and discrimination have run amuck. Following a couple of lost NLRB charges, Local 100 eliminated our seniority list and reduced driver qualifications. Prior to that time, we had a group (experienced based) seniority system. It was not great, but it did give Local drivers preference and did give some respect for seniority.

The union had only lost the NLRB charges because they had failed to follow their own rules. Refusing to refer a union dissident (me) to several jobs.

The local union was refusing to refer me, trying to deny my "good standing", so that I would not be eligible to run for union office.

As the former Secretary-Treasurer, they attack anyone that might be a threat to their cushy high paying union officer jobs.

So, in order to hurt me, they screwed the entire list of drivers. No more Class A requirements and no seniority.

So, like NM, we need help too. But, getting screwed by Local 399 is no better than being screwed by Local 100. Maybe worse.

How do you "know" what happened Sam? Did you work there? Do you know firsthand? Were people discriminated against because of their race, gender?

Just as I suspected....NO COMMENT from the guy that "knows" what happened in NM because he got on a FB page for NM film, which he doesn't wok in. And just like his original post regarding language put into the 399 contract last year, he doesn't "know" shit about shit. Perhaps he should get the facts and educate himself before he claims to "know" about things.

Burned, I know how Local 100 is discriminating because I've filed numerous complaints about it and won several NLRB postings, settlements and one board decision.

As for NM, as I stated, I dont know how Local 399's take over will work out. The NM movie workers were also filing complaints due to the mismanagement by their Local union. Those complaints claimed favoritism and discrimination.

Awwww.....Sam! It sounds like your local is screwing with the drivers and discrimination is rampant and change is needed, so hopefully 399 will step in and take over.
Again, you failed to answer how you "know" what was going on in NM, which means all you know are rumors, not facts. Oh, BTW, the one discrimination case that was filed went to a mediator and the results for the person that filed were laughable because the mediator found his case baseless. You can probably do a little research and find the outcome of that case.
