Pelosi stated on national TV this morning that she believed there likely would be no strike. How would she know? The fix is in the deal will get done this week and it's time to fire up the vote no movement.

330,000 UPS ere going on strike so new hires can make $25 an hour. I think people are losing sight that we should be fighting for our existing members to get $25 and the new hires $20. I see no reason 330,000 should get less for people that do not work here.

I was part time for 9 years before i went full time. I get the struggle but i think a lot of part timers want this to be their sole job or way of income. I do not feel sorry for anyone who only works part time.

Always fascinating to meet Teamsters who don't understand nor care about 60% of the workforce that they rely upon to make their well compensated jobs a reality, and who instead paint part-timers as underinvested. I assume they are outliers and have no real sway or power in their workplace, because as a part-timer the majority of drivers I interact with and that my coworkers interact with do have solidarity and want part-time pay- which has been largely unaddressed for two contract cycles- to be increased to $25. Part-timers in our hub have printed t-shirts, held rallies, tabled multiple shifts and locations, pressed for petition signatures, and are actually organized. A bunch of us are knocking doors in a few hours for the second weekend in a row, getting community members to place yard signs showing solidarity and strike support for UPS workers.

The individuals who twist and turn to find every reason not to strike, not to have solidarity, to roll up the ladder behind them- they have no support among the broader membership in my hub.

UPS can be made to meet the economic goal of $25 part-time base pay, but it will take solidarity and pressure from the rank and file, to get the bargaining committee to hold to this demand. Nine percent inflation yearly, a bag of groceries costs $70, and no one can afford rent in all the major cities in the US. $25 in 2023 is goddamn lowballing it, and UPS knows it.

Unfortunately people no longer act like true trade unionists and espouse these self centered viewpoints. The labor movement was built on shared sacrifice. As for those who only view life through the lens of self enrichment. Go on about your chicken killing. the movement deserves better.
