Miss that company plan yet? Then people want me to get over 2013.

    Right Hector Fortis?

Company plan participation was shut off in 1997 during the strike. This is common during strikes, companies using healthcare as leverage over workers. Union plans have the ability to extend coverage, if the Trustees choose to, so the company doesn't use this weapon against workers.

What happens more often, a strike or people unexpectedly missing a week of work and losing health insurance coverage?

That is an eligibility issue, not a company vs union plan issue. Trustees determine the plan eligibility requirements in a union plan.

Gimme Danger is right, the eligibility is what determines when you get health insurance. if you have the hours in July to qualify for August coverage, then you have August coverage. and you do have cobra availability in most cases, but you have to plan for this when you talk about strike. Plan, Plan Plan to be successful.

No it was not shut down during the strike. That's why everyone on the company plan complained about this in 2013 when 18 supplements were rejected!!!

That is the risk you take when going on strike. What you fall to mention is that they offer strike insurance. What you also fail to say is that union healthcare is a fund that forcasts money allocated for costs. If a strike so happens to drag on, like Overnite, it can have a great impact to what you pay in deductibles and copays.

How did you vote in 2013? You obviously sound like a company man to me. Voting yes in 2013 vs the c6 plan would have had everyone paying 20% on every invoice received. If it weren't for the Vote No Movement, our benefits would have been far worse than what we have now.
                ?????

I voted no on every national contract, but voted yes on my supplement. We never had the company plan and don't have teamcare.

Was thinking the same. They never had the company plan. They never felt what it was like to never pay deductibles or copays. Just like management, misery loves company. I was loving when the company kicked non-union spousal benefits to the curb. Poor Kerwood never had to fight for what he had and now wants people to believe he is a legit fighter for equality.

This guy was never involved in the reform movement. Now all the sudden he is out telling the world how bad Hoffa was. He was a Hoffa kiss ass just like the rest of them. Sad part is that these people ruined these contracts for years now they are the prophets of the union.
