The Teamsters union plans to file a grievance against UPS over the use of non-union drivers by a UPS e-commerce subsidiary, FreightWaves has learned.

Right, now their concerned, now it's an issue. It was an issue in the last contract along with the entire private vehicle scam. It should have been dealt with then, it's not new. So what's the plan now? It's an entirely non-union delivery system ready to scab.

Law 360 reports that Chicago Local 705 has filed a suit in Federal Court alleging UPS is syphoning work from 705 members to non-union Roadie a delivery company which is owned by UPS.

I know Chicago UPS is different than national, but I'd like to know what contract language or law Local 705 is relying on for this lawsuit. Every one knew about Roadie in the last negotiations for the "historic contract", it should have been dealt with then. This suit smells like an effort to make it look like something is being done, all show for the next election

And maybe some drinking too Dr. P! The head of the division and their head of labor are usually pretty cozy. Been that way since they put a master agreement together 50 years ago. Their goal is to reduce the membership to 200 K. Go try to organize a bunch of folks who are driving their own cars and trucks. 2 check system. O/Os take a lot of work to find, organize and, especially, represent.

The NMA was first created in 1979 and done so to shut down the militant locals that constantly struck!

I remember back when New York used to walk out at the drop of a dime. Carey used to pull the job in 804 whenever the company did something stupid.
