Victory for Amazon Teamsters in California

(SAN FRANCISCO) In a major win for Amazon Teamsters, the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) Region 20 issued a complaint against the company over it

This publication is also very misleading. If intentional, then deceitful. When a REGION of the NLRB "issues a complaint" it is not a final decision on the charge that the union filed. It merely means that the Regional Director of Region 20 decided that there is a prima facie case to be made. The case then must be heard by an Administrative Law Judge (ALJ) in the future. That Judge will decide if a bargaining order should be issued. If so, that decision could be appealed to the actual NLRB in DC. That is highly likely. That entire process takes time. And believe it, the employer will intentionally take its time providing whatever is required (more time delayed). A bargaining order at some time may, or may not, be issued after a drawn-out process. The writer of the article knows all of this. So, with that, in the overly fluffy manner that this article is written it must be considered, for some purpose, to be deceitful. It really doesn't "pave the way" (SOB statement) for much of anything with the exception of a sense of futility by the workers. THAT'S THE EMPLOYERS PLAN! The Board process with respect to representation matters is not much more than a necessary psychological process for the workers to get through. BECAUSE, at some point leverage is certainly needed to cause an employer to bargain TOWARD an agreement and/or for recognition. Since the Board does not assist in providing that type of pressure it merely serves as something that workers THINK they need to get where they want. That being a signed agreement.

I am not second guessing the strategy of the union's process here. Sometimes you need to get into it with a plan and make moves along the way as you figure it out. I am second guessing the message to the workers if framed as the article is written while criticizing it if it is meant for members. The writer of the article, or someone in the IBT administration, knows all of this and surely reviews it as written. If the information in this article is relayed to the affected workers in the same manner it may be an effort to keep their hopes alive. That is understandable. However, it gives a false sense of hope in the NLRB...that is a losing strategy for sure. With that...this is disappointing bullshit. Especially if it is meant as more PR for the current members.

If and when they get a contract most of the workers will be gone.
