Here's a problem. Faking numbers, brown outs, firings of staff, lies, cozying up to anti-union politicians are not the issues that resonate with the membership to a degree that may cause it to send SOB packing. The average Teamster wants to work hard all week, get paid, drink beers on the weekend, go to his kids' sporting events or dance rehearsals and get in a couple hours of fishing or golfing. We pretty much live paycheck to paycheck. "If the wind blows in a different direction for me today...I'm riding it." However, some union-oriented folks see a bigger picture or a "grand scheme". They see and believe that the aforementioned issues as being greater than just material. That's to their credit I believe. If anyone wishes to challenge the status quo and current establishment they will need to find the necessary resources ALONG with finding a way to frame messages in a way that will move opinions. Otherwise, they shouldn't fool themselves. Tell the truth. However, don't rely on issues that won't resonate to the degree that is necessary.
