Apathy is real. When you run a union and local as service, there is no real engagement. "Think of us as a car insurance you only need us when you get into an accident" is there most horrible approach to take. Many union ozzicers and staff have this mentality.

"Striking Alone" by Doug Lain brings up something vital, we do need to start from scratch and move away from this two political party system.

Unfortunately, members can't separate the unending PR that sprews out of the IBT and reality. The Amazon "strike" is another example of false reporting. 70,000 new "voters" except we arent told how many actual contracts got negotiated and if these voters ever became members. All members really know is how well they are represented in their Local Unions. With few exceptions such as UPS, and now maybe Costco and BUD, it is all local. We have seen the disastrous results of the UPS agreement and the lack of protection of jobs, Costco is heading for a potential disastrous outcome as the Locals have abandoned their members in favor of kissing ass to oz, and the Brewery division is a joke. Members love the tough guy talk, and the bravado, all the while not realizing what it costs them in reality...lessor contracts, more lost cases at the panel level, and a total lack of respect from their employers and other unions. The govt, new tdu, and oz slowly but surely dismantling a once great union.

That Costco contract negotiated by the IBT was a joke. They are at $2.11 in pension per hour. Prior to getting 36 cents in pension in the current contract they were at $1.75 thanks to the negotiating skills of Rome Aloise. But then again, did we all forget of the sweetheart deal Rome cut with Southern Wines and Spirits that got him into trouble with the IRB?

All hofficers from Rome to O'Brien have been a fraud!
