To the union's credit, they have been investigating. Ben Vedus has been very responsive in getting information he has to me in real time. The problem is the contract. UPS is under no obligation to give Local 162 any information about these "change of operations" until the 45 day window. If jobs are going to be permanently eliminated, then we can have 60 days under the WARN Act.

Here's what we are doing at the moment. We have a new City Council and Mayor. First step is talking to these elected officials about the permitting process and the larger problems associated with AI/automation job losses.

Layoffs at one UPS facility are layoffs for all of us - no area, no shift, no building is an island. Our union leadership must answer hard questions this Sunday at 10 AM during the union meeting:

So, if not for his own salary - he's not far off from retirement - then the survival of the Davison regime, Vedus must deliver something. Because if Swan Island goes, then Davison goes. The dominoes won't stop falling until the entire local is in the hands of rebels.
