WSWS: Three weeks before the US elections

I don't agree with everything the WSWS writes but I think this is as clear a breakdown of the issues in this election as you will find anywhere.

The closeness of the race does not mean that tens of millions of American workers are in favor of a fascist dictatorship. Instead, it reflects a deep and widespread hostility toward the Democratic Party, which is both opposed to and incapable of advancing policies that address the needs of the broad mass of the population.

Your solution for a party that does not do enough to promote a progressive social agenda is to help elect the party that has an agenda based on dividing workers and turning the clock back to the 1930's? One party at least recognizes social inequities while the other thinks anyone who is not a billionaire entrepreneur does not deserve any sympathy or help. So is your hope that by electing a fascist things will get so intolerable for the "masses" that they will eventually rebel and overthrow their overlords, creating the opportunity for a workers' state? If that's the plan, remind to us how well that worked in 1917. My recollection is the popular uprising was suppressed and the fascists prevailed for decades. And after a brief and hopeful respite, have regained control. Perhaps you can remind us how many countries who followed that path are run today on socialist egalitarian principles, rather than by fascist oligarchies. We all recognize the limits of the Democratic Party and also the limits to what can be accomplished in the context of America's governmental structure. So tell us your plan for making things better in our lifetime, short of destruction of the current system and the elimination of capitalism,. Because in the long run, we'll all be dead. Vote Harris-Walz!

The Harris campaign has raised $1B from Wall Street in less than 3 months. It's so much money they've even stopped announcing the totals: https://archive.ph/JbmoS

The Democrats are the party of Wall Street (no different than Republicans). They are also the party of genocide. The fact that Trump is no different doesn't absolve them from their responsibility for the genocide, which is a policy decision made by Biden.

A number of people are committed to not vote for the Democrats on that basis, because they do not want to be complicit in genocide, and I am one of them. This vote will go down in history as a what were you doing then moment, similar to the 1930s in Germany. This is the U.S.'s war - it's a proxy war, just as with Ukraine. Tim Walz gave this away when he said in the VP debate that "the expansion of Israel and its proxies is an absolute, fundamental necessity for the United States."

I don't have a solution in this election other than to not vote Democrat to not be complicit in genocide, and to break with the Democrats and start building a third party that actually represents the interests of workers, because neither of the two parties we have today does.

I usually don't find fault with people that self identify as socialists, but this WSWS bunch is never going to make any change with their wacky overthrow the system approach. They are not friends of labor. I don't care what they call themselves. All bitchin' no fixin.

I have read both your posts and the links you provided. Your comment "Harris campaign has raised $1B from Wall Street in less than 3 month" is, just like other trolls post on this site, FAKE NEWS. No where in any of links you provided does it state "From Wall Street." Vote for whom ever you want, for what ever reason, just get you facts straight.

Like I said before, you should consider a different news source.

Small donors do not account for the $1 billion Harris has raised in 3 months.

"This article is based on interviews with more than two dozen campaign officials, policy experts, donors, lobbyists and business leaders.
They describe a Democratic campaign that is far more open to corporate input than the one President Biden had led for much of the election cycle."

Your Response, NYT: "Harris Campaign Says It Took In $27 Million at Wall Street Fund-Raiser"

However, your statement was "Harris campaign has raised $1B from Wall Street in less than 3 month" Your supporting article states $27 Million raised from Wall Street. Doing the math, $27M is 2.7% of $1B leaving your statement 97.3% short.

The chart you posted does not include data for September. You seem to be taking issue with the word Wall Street, which is a common stand in term for corporate America. If you want we can say that Harris has raised $1B, most of which is from corporate America. That $1B is not from workers. The first article you posted talks about small contributions (under $200), with the most common amounts being $25 and $10, and includes a quote from a college student who donated $1.

The Democrats strategy has been to raise more corporate money than Republicans. Biden, Senator Credit Card, did that in 2020 and Harris is running to the right of Biden, and has so far already raised more money in 80 days than Trump has in all of 2024. If Harris had any agenda that was pro-worker at all that money would not be coming in and corporate America would not be praising her.

Oct 17, 2024 After almost 4 years into the Biden/Harris administration the Dow Jones ended in another record high as the Chips Act leads the way!

Your post, "Harris campaign has mostWall Street) Your complaint that Are you saying you know of some devastating bombshell and I am trying to hide that info? Correct me if I am wrong, but according to the Federal Elections Commission (FEC), 2024 Monthly Reports Presidential campaigns, party committees, SSFs and PACs that are monthly filers during an election year will submit 12 reports covering their activity. Close Books-Last day of the Month/Filing Deadline 20th of the next Month. EXAMPLE: For September-Close Books on Sept. 30, 2024-Report Due, October 20th, 2024, 2 days from today.

The 2024 election, like it or not, is a choice between Harris or Trump. If your #1 issue truly is unions and workers, the choice is clear. If not, it is your right to vote for whom ever for whatever reason.

You seem to be troubled by (To Harris) Most of "Corporate America" are a cabal of CEOs, corporate directors, and other "fat cats" and their advisors who conspire to keep themselves wealthy. They will go anywhere and do anything to keep money flowing into their greedy hands.

In my last post; https://www.axios.com/2024/09/05/tru...reet-forecasts Axios: Sep 5, 2024, Wall Street economists forecast Trumponomics vs. Kamalanomics. In my opinion, "Corporate America" (Wall Street) after the Jan 6 insurrection, hearing comments of being a dictator by the political violence is OK candidate, "Corporate America" decided democracy is more profitable.

Your comment is not based in facts. While much still needs to done to protect unions and workers, the Biden/Harris administration has done more and publicly raised more issues to advance unions/workers than any other administration in decades. There is a stark difference in track records on unions/worker rights between candidates. The appointments to the NLRB are a shining example. The Trump administration used the NLRB to advance an agenda that can only be characterized as anti-worker. The Biden/Harris Administration has placed experienced worker advocates and increased funding to the NLRB https://www.epi.org/publication/bide...toring-rights/ resulting in advancement for unions and workers. Trumps administration has Rolling Back More NLRB Rules https://www.hrlawwatch.com/2024/08/2...dministration/ . Pensions saved https://youtu.be/L-0scXxzISA

JD Vance spreads debunked claims about Haitian immigrants eating pets https://www.npr.org/2024/09/10/nx-s1...-haitians-pets, here are 4 reasons why labor unions love Tim Walz, a former teacher, because he understands the struggles of working people. https://www.npr.org/2024/08/06/nx-s1...unning-mate-vp

To sum up, Unions, despite our faults, are the only voice workers have. Now we have a chance to elect an administration that will continue to promote and place our voices on a national level. This is why I am voting Harris/Walz.

The "tweedledee vs. tweedledum" circumstances that we must deal with in every US presidential election have been around a long time. I first voted when eligible, in 1972 for George McGovern. Yeah the Democratic Party represents interests that I abhor, but, I look at how the World will be affected with the outcome. We can't rely on election politics to solve all our issues/problems. When FDR, and LBJ signed progressive legislation, it was because of the mass uprisings in the labor and then civil rights movement. That's why those advances got to the desk in the Oval office. Same with the Teamsters. Electoral politics got us SOB O'Brien. It will take concerted action by the rank and file to drive him out.
