"Teamsters Against Trump" is just another TDU affiliate created and run by the same folks. It shouldn't take this, the whole union should be against the most anti-union candidate in history.

image.png?Ken Paff needs to hang it up. He is a government agent who has successfully taken down the union, period.

We three Local 251 recent retirees collaborated on writing and distributing the below attached leaflet at the Local 251 "Town Hall Membership Meeting" regarding Local vote for US President endorsement.
Initially, when Principal Officer Matt Taibi announced this event, he said retirees could not attend; however retirees were allowed to stay in the Hall during the endorsement meeting. We did not know that would be the case before the endorsement vote meeting.

I'm a retired Local 251 member and worked for nine years as Local 251 Contract Coordinator (leading contract bargaining on the majority of white paper CBA's) and BA (2014-2022) during Matt Taibi's terms as Secretary-Treasurer/Principal Officer. Since Taibi was put on O'Brien's slate, Taibi has turned a blind eye to Local 251 rank & file members' complaints about lack of proper representation and basic tenants of union democracy and fairness.

I don't write these words lightly. It's painful to have seen this change by those who have taken the Teamster oath of obligation that the rank and file members' interests always are first and foremost. I believe Taibi has put his personal rise in the IBT leadership first and foremost.

The organization, "Teamsters Against Trump" that Paff and Taibi are "advocating" is a face-saving sham in my view. How can one claim to oppose Trump if, as an International VP (or longtime TDU organizer), they don't openly and actively criticize O'Brien's cozying up to the anti-worker, virulent racist, misogynist Trump and his allies, JD Vance and Josh Hawley? Why, if they claim to oppose Trump, don't they take a stand like International VP John Palmer? My answer, like many of those reading this, is, they don't want to jeopardize their cozy relationship with O'Brien.

If Taibi was truly interested in building an effective movement like "Teamsters Against Trump" he would have included those from Local 251 that he knows oppose Trump in contacting them about such efforts. I was never notified about the September 28th zoom Kickoff Meeting - as posted above here. Since I retired, Taibi removed me and other retirees from the text blasts about Local 251 and JC10 events supporting rank and file members - picket lines, rallies, etc. This is despite numerous emails to his office that I be included (as I had been for nine years, while an active member) in the text blasts. The Local 251 website reads that these text blasts are used to draw support for these events, including retirees; that all active and retired members are encouraged to receive text blasts. However, Taibi will not include those, such as myself, that challenge some (not all) of his actions as Principal Officer.

And Ken Paff might have notified me of "Teamsters Against Trump" - I'm a TDU member in good standing. However, Paff and David Levin see me as a malcontent; even though Paff last was an active Teamster in the late 1970's and Levin, although now a member (by his own admission) of Local 25 has, to my knowledge never worked under a Teamster CBA.

PS: The first issue of Convoy (the initial TDU newspaper) I received in 1977, after joining TDU as a Local 443 member driving for Petroleum Products Inc., included a photo of then IBT GP Frank Fitzsimmons playing a round of golf with Richard Nixon. So much for the claims by Paff that TDU doesn't get involved in politics.

              - Dave Robbins (aka: AlJackson1962! here) He was an original NY Met; I'm an original NY Met fan - Lets Go Mets!

Looks like this was a sharing of a social media post from a personal social media account. Kinda what people do to share information, events and potentially organize people. If you were really interested, maybe you should've gotten on that call, since it was posted on this site a full two days prior? That organization says it is an independent super PAC. I haven't seen Locals endorsing that particular organization. The old Vairma-aligned Local leaders have formed their own Teamsters for Harris organization. You can get on that one too.

Just wondering whether SOB is using our dues to pay Trump"s law firm, Nixon Peabody, to file a cease-and-desist threat to Paff's latest scam for using the word "Teamster,": as he did against "TeamsterLink"? Maybe it falls under the same exemption that SOB has granted Teamsters for a Democratic Union and hundreds of other groups using "Teamster" to sell their products without any authorization. Too bad that exemption does not apply to real Teamster retirees who just want to provide a safe forum for discussion by real dues paying members and retirees.

Maybe I'm wrong. But, didn't O'Brien complain that Kamala Harris was not endorsed by him because she didn't support changing the Railway Labor Act that limited strike action by workers covered by the Railway Labor Act? If so, is it not the height of hypocrisy for O'Brien (as General President) to remain silent, while the Teamster affiliated Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and Trainmen (BLET) leadership has opted for a Trump emergency board to issue a proposed settlement between BLET and the Long Island Railroad,(LIRR) rather than exercise strike action that was ratified by 99.9% of the BLET members employed by LIRR? That strike authorization could have been implemented last week, but now must wait until next May 2026. Striking before May 2026 would be a violation by the Union of the Railway Labor Act; only because BLET leadership opted to delay any strike action, in exchange for a Trump emergency panel recommendation for a contract settlement. How does that square with the self described SOB's supposed militant labor strategy to take on "white collar corporate criminals"?

Didn't this happen once before with BLET right after OZ took office?
