Ken Stribling, and approximately 50 retirees on the stage of the DNC! They know how to do the right thing; thank and support those who saved their pension, and frankly, the Teamsters Union. Had this legislation that Biden/Harris got through Congress without one (1) Republican vote, not passed, employers from the CS pension, and many other Teamster plans would have been forced to file for bankruptcy. This would have affected every aspect of the Union. Contracts, Health & Welfare trusts, and would have severely affected the largest of all plans, the WCTPTF. Could the organization last with all this happening, I suppose it is a matter of opinion, but it would be a much different union!! Oz is trying to destroy it from the inside out now, but it will take much longer!!
Thank you retirees for restoring a degree of dignity to the Teamsters!

This gets us back to the most basic argument for unions. Who is the union?

Is it the General President, or is it the members?

Many of the union leaders think they are the union, they are merely our representatives. We, the members, both active and retired are the freking Union.

That group of dedicated, determined retirees, who only represent a small number of the 1000s of Teamsters who rallied, spoke and fought for the Butch Lewis Act.

But, when the DNC invited them, they invited our UNION.

Instead of whining that he was not speaking, Obrien should be celebrating that our union members were invited; and that Joe Biden and Kamala Harris followed through on their promise to save our pensions.

O'Brien supported the 80-20 UPS sponsered plan. He and his mentor Ken Hall thought we all needed skin in the game. Thanks to Brother Stibling and the members, retirees, spouses and many volunteers who already had skin in the game. Thank you Joe Biden and all the Democrats who got the Butch Lewis Act across the finish line without punishing our Brothers and Sisters.
