Does the MOB still have influence at the Teamsters union?

Is the Mob still a factor at the Marble Palace?

The general public could never understand just how dirty and hostile Teamater union politics can be. On several occasions while debating issues at Local 100 in Cincinnati, I've had fellow Teamsters threaten to shoot me.

Just two years ago, one of the elected BAs (a convicted felon, we have two felons in office at 100) threatened a 70 year old movie driver.

The movie driver a former Butler County Mounted Officer. The BA threatened "I'll bring sone if my boys up to your house and we'll cut your white pig ass".

The union responded by trying to discredit the movie driver and railroad him out of the union.

He fought back, filed for a protective order and the issue was settled. But, the felon was not disciplined in any way. He continues to be a thug.

Does the IBT discourage bully, threatening behaviob or is the IBT encouraging that type of criminal behavior?

I've seen the posts, "fuck around and find out" posted on numerous union officials facebook pages. When did it become appropriate to threaten retaliation?

Could it be that corruption and mobster mentality are back at the IBT and maybe we need the Department of Justice to reassert their authority over the IBT.

It was 49 years ago this week that the former Teamsters union leader, Jimmy Hoffa, vanished without a trace, and the Hoffa riddle is a befitting title for the anniversary week of his disappearance.

The government (DOJ) has controlled the Teamsters for years. Every General President after the original Hoffa. has answered to, and/our made a deal with the deep DOJ career people. Some lasted, a couple got taken out, but the control was there. On the local level there has been no direct MOB control since, at the very latest, 1995. However, that doesn't mean there are all saints at these locals. Some hoods, some dishonest crooks, some bad people. The government decided the last election, and made sure they have someone in the GP spot they can control. They have him. No wonder a lot of what is going on only serves to undermine the Teamsters as an organization, and belittle it. The biggest employer is doing whatever they please, making big profits, eliminating jobs, and saving money on eliminating additional pension contributions to the largest plan in the Nation. The IBT leadership has undermined the union's credibility with politicians by abandoning the party who saved the pensions and maybe by that, saving the union. The entire labor movement is disgusted with the IBT. Who can trust the IBT? No one, certainly the members. But the government will continue to protect the current group, while continuing to eliminate any opposition to them. Sad...

My question would be: does it apply to our union? At first it appears to be for civil servants and then it appears to apply to all unions.

Looks like that this leaves out the President of Local 623. It was published that he has aggravated assault on his record. He told me it was his stepfather he beat to a pulp.

At local 100, the union hired a "conviction record company" to clean the records of their BAs. The records of their felonies were expunged.

If the Hamilton County Clerk of Court website is correct, there were arrests for drug trafficking, shooting someone in a bar fight, impersonating a police officer, obstructing a police investigation and holding a stolen police badge. Among a litany of other violations.

Apparently, getting violations expunged has become a big business. And, the court system is open to clearing just about anything.

it appears that after something has been legally expunged, the record of that felony is no longer an issue.

As I understand it, both of our felons, regularly associate with other felons (I thought that was illegal) and both have concealed carry permits and firearms (I thought that was illegal too).

I'm not so sure they get lawyers to expunge their record (which is next to impossible) but you might be talking about a state law that is similar to ours called "The Clean Slate Law". You cannot search or find anybody's record. If they still have a felony, they cannot in most cases vote or register for a firearm.

Pretty sure it has nothing to do with the mob, but nice conspiracy theory.

Got a good chuckle out of this article. Expungement is a full and complete erasure of your record, I always thought. Hiding your record from the public and certain government agencies is not an expungement but I guess it is now. lol

Yes, I spoke with a police officer about it. He said that the general public cannot see the conviction record. He said that the arrest record remains public record.

But, he pointed put that if a police officer pulls the felon over, if the officer is connected to a national data base, the arrest and conviction record will be available for the officer to see.

What confuses me, does the handfun background check have a cess to the police data base?

It would seem if they do and if the felon either fails to admit their prior conviction, or does admit their prior conviction, shouldn't that be enough to deny the purchase of a handgun or denial of carry conceal permit?

Yes. I remember when these laws were going through. I remember seeing who the record was available to and one entity was the police. Each state is obviously different. Like I said, if you are a violent felon, you still cannot purchase a firearm. That data base is connected to the FBI. All this stemmed from the Second Chance Act. The President of our local's record was public and once he took office, poof it was gone.

What most of us knew for years. Rome was a CI for the FBI. Junior and Murphy were as well. The MOB is mostly gone. Mostly wannabes now.

Here in the Philadelphia area, it was mostly South Jersey and Delaware where the mob was interconnected. Johnny Morris didn't tolerate the mob in Philadelphia.
