Indeed, 600+ (could be more, but Swan Island is a huge facility with three, previously 4, shifts)

What happen to all those O'Brien supporters? Why ain't they saying anything? What about TDU? What about labor notes?

In my area, there will be several more hubs closed down and ours will have an influx of volume until they are built. Then it will be our turn to feel the wrath of this great agreement.

When will all these people realize they were duped by a man who has done it before. Do they feel stupid trumpeting "Historic Contract" now? Our raises weren't all that great compared to other contracts around the country.

I called them today. Matt Konz, who works under the leadership of President Davison, said that they were aware of plans to automate the building, however, the specifics of the plans had not been relayed to the union.

The amount of layoffs will depend on how many of us are "lucky" enough to cling onto work at one of the several "pop up" hubs on Swan Island. In Spokane, UPS is using these modular facilities as they remodel/automate large sections of that conventional facility.

        More Layoffs/Closures

UPS notified the Maryland Department of Labor on June 20 that it is closing its facility at 3901 Vero Road on Aug. 23.

                  ITOC Updates

As an independent group of union members, we are outraged by the planned operational halt at the UPS Swan Island Hub in Portland, Oregon, slated for March 2025. This so-called renovation, aimed at automating the facility, is nothing but a blatant attack on our jobs. The majority of our workforce will be cut, with only a few positions temporarily retained in 'pop-up hubs.' Our union's General Presi

Apparently one of the stewards (appointed) said that Local 162 doesn't want to say anything to avoid causing "panic" among the workers. I only heard this through the grapevine, so I am omitting the steward's name until confirmed.

The warehouses are to be retooled as automated facilities as part of the Network of the Future, made possible by the sellout Teamsters contract.
