While this all seems positive on the surface for the much needed increase of support of this group. I believe its an absolute must for their success. It also seems a bit preditory if you consider the announcement and its ill timing prior to the membership vote. I very much hope this merger succeeds but it seems a little disrespectful before the whole ALU membership gets to vote. We wish you all success as Teamsters and Brothers and Sisters. We will lend our full help and support to your cause. This is the cause and fight of the working class. Welcome Brothers and Sisters please vote your conscience, we are here for you regardless the outcome.

Agreed. This affiliation agreement announcement came before the ALU elections and the rank-and-file voting on it. It was premature.
Let the ALU JFK8 rank-and-file vote their conscience.
What I have seen and read both slated running for ALU are supportive of the affiliation just have problems on how this was announced.

The problem with from the ALU JFK8 rank-and-file is that it was announced prematurely and before they could vote on it.

Regarding the current president of the ALU, Christian Smalls. He is not running for ALU leadership so he is out. He is also not employed at Amazon so it is likely that he will get a job as an organizer in the IBT Amazon division.

I wonder how our Amazon campaign is doing. How many warehouses are we SALTing &/or actively organizing? In SoCal, we were trying to organizing an Amazon Air Hub by March Air Force base but last time I heard that has fizzled out.

I encourage JFK8 rank-and-file hop on here so they can express their opinions and views on this matter. Hope more of them do.

Well stated Direct Line, when the vote succeeds it's time for the rubber to hit the road. No mores excuses.

Let's hope they get a contract and it's not a shitty one like the one DHL got with no pension.

Having organized in the Inland Empire, Southern California with the Warehouse Worker Resource Center, Amazon employees in San Bernardino, Moreno Valley, Rialto don't want anything to do with the Teamsters especially local 1932.

1932 has been funneling money to outside organizations like the Warehouse Worker Resource Center and other Inland Empire groups to supposedly fight for "air quality" but it's all a sham

I believe the foundation to the agreement is good but needs clean-up to make sure the Teamsters don't do ALU dirty

Teamster Locals are autonomous in many ways, but need to follow the IBT Constitution. You are aware that there is an Amazon Division within the IBT that has been coordinating organizing? Having a certification at the only location that successfully voted for a union is great in itself, but hardly a jurisdictional claim for all future organizing, affiliated or not. RWDSU tried Bessemer. Teamsters organized the Palmdale dsp. The organizing has been going on for some time and needs to continue. Unity is a big deal against a huge company like Amazon.

The legendary Chris Smalls never stops organizing at Amazon. Here is the soon to be Teamster today at an Amazon Fullfillment center called WhiteHall which must be somewhere on Staten Island.

As an infamous Teamster once said many years ago, "members don't want their BA's driving Pinto's" (paraphrasing).

I think that's exactly what he said. lol It goes to show that people will vote for anybody. They could be robbing the union blind and yet, there they are at the ballot box voting for their own demise. Then, after they are shown the light, they act like they were right all along while criticizing their champion. So weird how people think.

What's it matter what kind of car he drives. They have GEB members with wives on the I.B.T. payroll that do nothing. They also gave there Good Buddies positions.

Right before he was trusteed for illeagally enriching his cohorts in the purchasing of Linclon Towncars. The infamous T.C. Stone shamed and removed from office. Adios

Please explain what is not true in that article? Seems like it is pretty factual according to other officers in his union. If you know different please explain. Big question is why is he not running to keep his position? Unless he has a better offer?

If you really believe the viewpoint and bias of that article, then you don't believe in unionism, in my opinion. Everyone knew that the ALU had no chance of getting a contract or being a successful long term organization. The affiliation with the Teamsters is a logical conclusion. Even small debts are nothing compared to the financial footing of the IBT.

He;s won 1 more amazon election than the Korganator. Being he has no job maybe we can get him for less than $500,000.
