Amazon is hurting both FedEx and UPS.

Their ability to control who deliveries their packages along with their lower non-union wages, crappy health benefits and no pension places Amazon in a competitive advantage over UPS and FedEx.

While FedEx is not unionized, in many areas FedEx drivers and warehouse workers are paid wages that are competitive with UPS wages.

That has been the only way that smaller FedEx could compete for quality workers.

By contrast, Amazon has (reportedly) 1.5 million workers. Amazon Corporation dwarfs UPS and FedEx.

In 2023, their delivery operation over took UPS as the largest private delivery company in the USA.

Over the next several years, with seemingly the assistance of UPS CEO Carol Tome' that dominance seems to be on track to continue and grow.

Tome' negotiated a "historic" contract with the Teamsters last summer.

Despite lots of bragging and chest pumping by the IBT President, Sean O'Brien, it appears a year later that this was not a great contract for Teamster workers.

For many workers the contract included nice pay raises that almost kept up with the rising cost of living.

But, since the contract was signed, Tome' has been on a tear.

Her plan of Better Not Bigger is being implemented without a peep from the IBT.

After all the braggjng last year, the silence from the IBT is deafening. And Teamsters are not hearing from the 100 or so "regular people" that the IBT placed on the negotiating committe.

Since the contract, the company has made significant service cuts, including, eliminating late air pickups, eliminated daily deliveries in many areas, waiving the long standing air delivery guarantees and changed the company policy on facial hair and tattoos.

And, started an aggressive policy change, now hiring convicted felons.

In all, it is reported that since last August 1st, UPS has laid-off about 43,000 workers.
