This Is What Will Be Replacing Teamsters at UPS

UPS will be investing in these companies that will replace workers. The Teamsters were aware of this since 2021. This is part of UPS's automation plans to be implemented by 2026. UPS is bragging that it negotiated with the Teamsters to make it happen.

Is this a historic contract or a sell out (once again)?

Wait a minute... didn't he say this was a good contract? Some things never change.

Here is where Sean O'Brien wrote us out of the contract and fully embraced automation. In yellow are all the additions, in red are all the deletions. O'Brien did NOT fight automation and AI like he said. He actually endorsed it and never questioned it. The only thing they excluded was drones and driverless vehicles, not the buildings. Sean even accepted the addition where as no supplement can override these provisions. The new contract states basically that if you don't like it, grieve it at the national grievance panel and show where the company violates the language. In other words, Sean O'Brien is lying through his teeth when he says he fought automation.

AND... the company basically rubs it in the union's face by adding this language....

As part of this meeting, the Committee shall discuss whether the planned technological change violates any provision of this Agreement. Further, the Employer will review any training required for bargaining unit employees to perform new or modified work generated as a result of the new technology or to utilize the new technology, as necessary.

So, your job will change with the changes in technology. By 2026, there will be more job loses and the company has stated that they will decrease "labor costs". That means they will be closing buildings as they stated for more modern facilities with less employees.

Exactly, Dana: TDU/DSA continue to deceive members about "contract enforcement' to stop layoffs, when in fact it's UPS enforcing the contract that is the central problem.
