Could be a variety of factors. If the leaders aren't trusted by the group, they wouldn't get very far. If they didn't make an accurate assessment, then they didn't do their iob as organizers. I read that the IBT would remain neutral, so unless there are objections to the results, this couldn't be blamed on 'union busting.'

They never had support for this and tried to work around everyone else that wanted nothing to do with it. That plan backfired severely.

Those 12 that voted yes are most likely have never been Teamsters and come from other unions.

Yes please add some factual context. Even if your claim is valid federal law does not care if you were aTeamster. It's unlawful to terminate someone for engaging in protected concerted activity. It's the law.

I know almost all the information on the organizing drive but would never give it to you three socialists. You in my opinion are the worst kind of Teamsters.

Why would they hire non Teamsters as organizers, and not Teamster Rank and File members ? Besides a few of the management team in the Org. Dept. Are non Teamsters.

Hoffa would always hire non Teamsters to be in the organizing department. Same as this current administration.

They also are getting rid of the internal organizing department ASAP. It was a huge drain on the IBT and only served a few local in the South.

This was lost from the moment the organizers were told they would no longer be teamsters. The Guild did nothing about it.

All IBT organizers should come from the rank and file. We need to stop this practice of hiring outsiders. IBT hires non-Teamsters, takes advantage of them then fires them. Don't don't speak out on abuses because they don't want to lose their job. Instead recruit Members who if needed can go back to their shops if it doesn't work out. We need Teamsters organizing new Teamsters. We don't need ex SEIU, AFSCME, DSA etc in the IBT organizing ranks.

There's no good reason not to hire R&F teamsters as organizers.

Have you seen some of the characters they hire? Then they wonder why the organizing drives are such a failure.

They hire non-teamsters because they're easier to fire. Plus they don't stick around to tell the tale.

We need organizers with teamster experience talking to nonunion workers. They shouldn't be too hard to find with 1.2 million members.

Exactly, tired of them hiring college kids who have never worked a day in their life.

Considering what the posted starting pay was, it's no wonder good people can't be recruited. The holdover pay established by the previous administration needed serious changes.

Wasn't the pay under the previous administration the hourly wage a member made at his barn plus 10 hours of overtime?

If you work in a warehouse it's actually a pretty good job. Some warehouse do not have overtime on a weekly basis. And the little overtime is dispatched or assigned by seniority and only a few get it.

I don't believe that is correct. It was a set starting rate.

First of all, the last administration hired most of the organizers from campaigns where they worked and were leaders, and sometimes got fired, and some from locals, and some experienced organizers maybe from other unions. Being an organizer is one of the hardest jobs in the Union. Away from home a lot, long, long hours and a lot of disappointment. The guild would have let them rule themselves, and negotiate for themselves. Frankly, the oz group made promises and treats, just like all employers do. In campaigns moving forward, every Union buster in the country will use this against the Teamsters. It will be devastating. If oz had a brain, they would have avoided the election, by recognizing the group, and it would have died its own death. Practically, unionized staff in a Union is bad idea. Having oz run the Teamsters was also a bad idea!

Maybe they should have gone independent. When the union put out the letter that claimed nuetrality they also implied strongly that any Guild members could not be Teamsters, untrue of course. But what Teamster organizer doesn't want to be a teamster?
