Brother Palmer lays out in detail why protecting the right of members and retirees to identify themselves as Teamsters is important to all of us. If the OZ/IBT can shut down teamsterlink who's next? The next group that has anything critical to say about OZ or other leadership, thats who.

Not a fan of Palmer but the letter is well written. Very factual and deserves a response. It is shameful that the IBT is going after these long time Teamsters who have sacrificed so much of their working lives to the Teamsters and now their retirement. Reprehensible

Excellent letter. In point of fact, using Nixon Peabody to go after retired Teamsters is clear breach of "never knowingly harm another member;" this is not a matter of whether the particular retirees are members or not; considering the work that Nixon Peabody has done in fighting Teamster bargaining units during negotiations, this is a deeply disconcerting use of members' dues. As a rank-and-file member in good standing, I am considering a charge against Zuckerman on this ground.

Palmer is asking the right questions. For as long as I can remember Teamster members have formed all kinds of organizations from car clubs to little league teams that called themselves "teamsters" in one form or another. No administration from before or since Presser has in any way challenged teamsters using the name or logo. Where will this go from here? Who's next? The GEB needs to come to their senses, we're witnessing the end of free speech in the Teamsters.

And even with all that money, this letter kind of flopped. Is TeamsterLink a vendor, Local or Joint Council? No. Is it closer to a collection of individual members showing their pride in being Teamsters? Yes. I think Nixon Peabody is just taking our union's money; they know they can't make a case that would stand in court.
