Just because One is a Candidate for the Presidency, the Cost/Price to Sit at Our Table, Our House should be based on a Proven Track Record of Advocacy and Promotion of Legislation that Support Trade-Unionism, Worker Rights, Strong Wages, Benefits and Safe Working Conditions. Doesn't matter what the Party Affiliation, this is the Minimum Price that has to be Paid to Sit at Our Table, Be at Our House!! Instead of having a 4-year Dog and Pony Show, wouldn't it Be Better to Come to the Table with a Report Card of Proven Actions, Deeds, Legislation that Shows Support for Trade Unionism, Work, Workers?? We have a National Publication, The Teamsters. It comes out 3 times a year. It would be in the Best Interest of Our Members to Give a Letter Grade for the 435 Members of the House of Representatives, 100 Members of the Senate, as to Their Legislative Record on Issues that Promote Work, Workers and Trade Unionism. With each Publication of the Teamster Magazine, a Section Should be Devoted to Educate and Inform Our Members as to how Our Representatives Perform in Legislation Important to Our Members. This is a Better Way of Evaluating Those Who Want Our Support; a Track Record on Paper!!

I wholeheartedly support the idea of establishing a research department within DRIVE for graded assessments of elected federal officials, as articulated here. As noted, focusing on evaluating candidates based on a proven track record of advocacy and legislative support for trade-unionism, worker rights, strong wages, benefits, and safe working conditions, would provide the basis for the rating.

Key Methods:

1. Graded Assessment: Implement a systematic grading system, to even consider endorsing candidates, they must score an overall "B" or higher based on their legislative history.
2. Track Record Emphasis: Shift from a 4-year campaign-centric evaluation to a track record-based assessment, requiring candidates to demonstrate tangible actions and legislation supporting our causes.
3. Teamster Magazine Section: Dedicate a regular section in The Teamsters to provide letter grades for elected officials, educating and informing our members about their representatives' performance on crucial issues.

Furthermore, by adopting this approach, we not only establish a robust framework for candidate endorsement but also empower our members with a valuable resource. Regular updates in The Teamsters will keep our membership informed and engaged, fostering a deeper understanding of how elected officials contribute to issues vital to trade unionism and workers' welfare. This proposed initiative aligns with a deeper commitment to transparency and ensures that our endorsements are based on concrete actions rather than mere campaign promises.
